Wayne Smith A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Wayne Smith joined the Columbus Blue Jackets in August 1999 as serving as a regional scout covering the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. He has been a full-time amateur scout since 2002. Smith came to Columbus from the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League, where he was also a scout. He spent seven years with Kingston, including three as the team’s chief scout and one as the director of player personnel.
