Ages 9 and under Program
A
Our youngest age group is introduced to off-ice skills which greatly
enhance the progress of their on-ice development. The progressions for learning on the ice are taught using
the basic principles from the older age groups, but at a simplified level. Through the use of extensive video
replay, these young players develop an understanding of the mechanics and skills required to participate in
all levels of hockey.
Ages 10-12 Program B
Christensen Hockey Schools have developed a program for these students
to develop an understanding of the basic techniques of skating and puck skills. In this program a major
emphasis is placed on the mechanical breakdown and analysis of the layer’s skating skills using slow motion
video replay in order to identify a player’s skating problems. In addition the students will work on developing
their puck skills, such as stick handling, passing, receiving and shooting. Each player is also introduced to team
concepts such as positioning and recognition of situations in order to increase his game awareness.
Checking will also be included in this group.
Ages 13-18 Program C
The concept of this program is to help the hockey player who has already developed his
skills advance to a higher level. It is a more intensified learning environment in order to better prepare the player for
his fall training camp. The basic skills of the game are emphasized at a more advanced level. Forwards are taught the elite
techniques of angling and finishing checks when fore checking, handling the puck in “traffic” as well as goal
scoring and shooting under pressure. Defensemen are instructed on reading situations of attack and opponent
tendencies, quick and controlled breakouts as well as individualized drills to improve foot quickness and body
control when angling and checking.
